The story behind a hat.

I sewed a hat for Lauren's birthday as a present, after I failed making a backpack (for her too). That backpack project made me almost cry. Although it taught me how to put a zipper and how to use a very nice sewing tool called seam ripper, but it didn't turn fine anyway.
It took me several days to recover my sanity and start sewing again, in the mean time I learned she got from friends of her, one Obama's bag and other leather bag, which made me think to change my present to another thing that she could use, as a hat for her girl's soccer games. I used a fabric that she has told me she liked it, because I used it before on one of my girls poncho, a thick cotton that could make a "body" to a hat, I lined it whit a stripe cotton fabric and used an interfacing for the visor to stiff it a little bit.
She was very kind to post her hat to her fellows flickers. Thank to all of them who complimented the hat, although it is entirely hers, I'm happy people liked it and she enjoys it.

I love the hat...and glad you posted about it! Don't let sewing projects make you cry...I know how frustrating it can get, but the good thing is that you learn and get better from it, growing pains, or lets just say sewing pains !! By the way, I call my seam ripper, Jack the Ripper, kind of sick if you know who he was...but it makes me laugh...
